Rechargeable

For decades, hearing aids have used disposable zinc-air batteries. These last anywhere from two days to two weeks, depending on the type of hearing aid. But rechargeable battery technology has made leaps and bounds in the last few years. The same technology that allows smartphones to last a full day on a single charge, and even for our cars to be powered by batteries, is also now at work in hearing aids.

Rechargeable hearing aids have several advantages over hearing aids that use disposable batteries.

For one, rechargeable hearing aids do not need to incorporate a battery door. This allows them to be much more resistant to water and dust. The Club Hearing Rechargeable Bluetooth Hearing Aids have a resistance rating of IP67. The “6” in “67” refers to solid permeability, and the “7” refers to liquid permeability. This means that their dust resistance is a 6 out of 6—the highest rating possible—and their water resistance is a 7 out of 8, indicating it is safe for them to be submerged for up to 30 minutes at a depth up to one meter. (It is never recommended to wear your hearing aids while swimming or showering, but in cases of accidental soaking they are not likely to be damaged.)
