Oticon Reveal 1 vs Oticon Intent 1: What Actually Changed?

Updated September 30, 2026. Information gathered by Club Hearing Intl.

In August 2026, Oticon launched the Oticon Reveal, calling it the world's first hearing aid powered by "Dual AI." It replaces the Oticon Intent, which had been Oticon's top hearing aid since February 2024.

If you are shopping for a premium hearing aid, you are probably asking a simple question: what does the Reveal 1 do that the Intent 1 does not, and is that difference worth it for you? We compared both using independent lab results and published specifications.

The short answer

The Reveal is a real improvement, and it scored slightly higher in independent lab testing. It is a refinement rather than a redesign. Both share the same shell, the same motion sensors, and the same connectivity. The Reveal adds a second AI system plus better whistling control, wind noise handling, and Bluetooth. The Intent 1 remains a current, fully supported premium hearing aid, and it is often available for less now that it is the previous generation.

How big is the upgrade?

When the Intent arrived in 2024, it was a big step: it introduced motion sensors, a new AI system, and support for the latest Bluetooth audio. The Reveal builds on that foundation instead of replacing it. Most of the core hardware carries over, and the changes focus on how the AI balances speech with background sound.

Independent reviewers see it the same way. HearingTracker's audiologist called the Reveal a genuine improvement over the Intent, while noting that not every Intent wearer needs to upgrade. The Reveal's new AI also cannot be added to the Intent with a software update.

About Oticon's headline numbers. Oticon reports a 60% stronger brain response than the Intent, and says 94% of users in its study preferred the Reveal. Both figures come from Oticon's own research and have not been verified by an outside lab yet.

Which one should you choose?

Choose the Intent 1 if

  • You want premium AI hearing and a lower price matters to you
  • You have moderate to severe hearing loss and want strong performance in restaurants and groups
  • You want full phone, TV, and public venue connectivity
  • You prefer a platform with over two years of real world use
  • You want a behind the ear style

Choose the Reveal 1 if

  • You want Oticon's newest technology and Dual AI
  • You want the higher lab score of the two
  • You spend a lot of time outdoors in wind
  • You have had trouble with whistling
  • You stream often and want the stronger Bluetooth

Already wearing the Intent? The improvement is real but modest, so most owners have little reason to replace a pair that works well. Wearing hearing aids five or more years old? Either one will feel like a major upgrade.

The bottom line

Both are excellent, A grade hearing aids. The Reveal 1 is Oticon's newest, with meaningful refinements. The Intent 1 shares most of the same core technology and remains a current, fully connected premium option at a lower price.
